The Christian walk is a continual process that begins with faith and ends in love (2 Peter 1:5-11). Once a person is “born again,” they receive the Spirit of God. This results in the believer having two natures, the flesh or “the old man,” and the Spirit or “the new man.” As the believer continues to surrender to the Holy Spirit, walking in the “new man,” he or she will eventually be able to overcome their flesh or “old man.”
“But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love (2 Peter 1:5-7).”
